[Proposal] Tray icon opens speech balloon on GNOME

Hello there,
I am a new user, I got pumped with your service since it added support for Linux (this is a deal-breaker for services choice for me).

I think that adding the functionality of opening the icon as a balloon (like in the browser) would be an amazing UX.

Allow me to demonstrate with a poor man's prototype:

Thank you for your consideration,
Reda

    Hi @redauser,

Thanks for sharing your suggestion and the mockup with us!

What you're suggesting is what we call 1Password mini, we have it on macOS and Windows if you haven't seen it. It is invoked from the menu bar/system tray like you mentioned.

We haven't considered anything like this for Linux yet because we're still working on the core foundations first. However, we'll certainly keep this in mind as we continue to evolve 1Password on Linux.

  • Thank you very much for the quick reply.

I will wait, let me know if I can test something for you on Linux.

    Cheers!

On behalf of Mike, you're super welcome!

If this is something that comes to fruition as 1Password on Linux evolves, we will certainly be in touch. 💙
