App store vs 1Password store versions

steffisteffi Junior Member

I cannot remember the history as to why I seem to have both versions.

It's possible I upgraded the 1Password store version with an app store version and lost most of the functionality.

I just redownloaded the 7.7 pkg and reinstalled and I have the functionality back.

Can somebody please remind me of the differences between these versions.

I know I must have had a reason to buying the 1Password store version.

    The Mac App Store version of 1Password is a free "purchase" so that it can be tried by anyone, and so that people with 1Password memberships can use it without making a separate purchase. Only the website version of 1Password for Mac has a purchase option, and the App Store will not recognize purchases made elsewhere, so you would have been in read-only mode when using the Mac App Store version without a membership.

    What's strange about this then it why the Mac App Store version showed me an update was available because I don't believe I would have had any prior reason to download this from the App Store.

    @steffi

    The Mac App Store should only show updates for apps that were downloaded from there. Have you checked your previous purchase history?
