Unlocking 1Password in the browser from Linux desktop client

The recent release notes of the 1Password browser extension for Firefox mentioned the ability to unlock it using the Linux application. However, I'm unable to get this to work.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Ensure both 1Password browser extension and the Linux application are locked/closed
2. Launch Linux client, unlock
3. Open browser extension in Firefox
4. Notice 1Password extension is still locked

I'm using the (Debian/Ubuntu) install of the Linux client application and version 87.0 of Firefox (from the Ubuntu repository).
