1.25.6 edit item bug

When I try to edit login items, it is opening 1Password desktop application and not opening correct login item.

Unlock 1P desktop app with master password.
Open Firefox
Go to a random website
Click on 1P extension icon
Click Edit on bottom of the login item
It opens 1P desktop app
Search for the desired login item again in the desktop app
Select the item and click on Edit
Change and save.

1Password Version: 7.6.800
Extension Version: 1.25.6
OS Version: Windows 10 21H1
Sync Type: Not Provided

  • Same issue happens in Edge Chromium too. It tries to open this link which forces 1P desktop app to open. onepassword://edit-item/XXX/xxx/xxxx

  • Hi @Naxterra !

    @MikeT was mentioning this.

    Note that Open and Fill and Edit/View in 1Password are not yet supported but will be implemented soon.

  • That was a big let down. I hope they will fix it very soon.

  • I hope this too. Need this feature also. ;)

    Thanks for bringing this up @Naxterra .
    There's a reason this is still in beta, hopefully will be fixed soon :chuffed:

  • Hope so. I know it is beta and not a release version, but still touching a working feature into buggy state is not a good thing.

    As a standard reminder of IT rule number one, if it works, don't touch it :)

    Thanks for the feedback :+1::)

  • I can tell that this behavior is also happening on Brave. Btw, is that web edit being killed ?

    @loggor You can still go to our web app by signing into your account at https://my.1password.com and edit your stuff there if you'd like, but our goal is definitely to make things easier and launch the desktop app if it is present, allowing you to edit your items with more convenience and control.

    @Naxterra it's not something that was working and broke, this feature never existed in the new integration and will be implemented in the following updates :)

  • @ag_yaron I think more convenient way should be editing items within same window, not opening additional pages or forwarding it to desktop application. Just like how Bitwarden does it in its browser extension. You click on login, click edit, and do changes in the same window.

    @Naxterra Thanks for the suggestion :)

  • @ag_yaron When the edit feature if complete. Will this popup still exist or at least make it automatically open the app without user confirmation, or perhaps an option to remember to always open that URL with the app, something like that? (I hope I was clear enough)

    Hey @loggor ,
    That's a great question, to which I don't have an answer to yet.

    I hope this popup will not exist but we'll have to wait and see :)
