Can't sign in to 1Password iOS app on iPad mini Gen1 (iOS9)

I can't sign in to 1Password iOS app on iPad mini Gen1 (iOS9).

I scanned the QR code from my online account and it pre-filled the sign in address, my email and secret key correctly. I entered my Master Password and hit Sign In. It returns an error saying 'Check Your Email and Secret Key'. Both are correct.

My email TLD is .media (xx@xx.media) - surely that's not the problem? Some other sites do have issues with newer TLDs like this.

What should I do?

Note: this is a first gem iPad mini stuck on iOS 9 and to install the app I had to install the 'latest compatible version'.

1Password Version: 6.9.1
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: iOS 9.3.5

    System requirements for 1Password

1Password accounts require 1Password 7 or later. 1Password 7 requires requires iOS 12.2 or later.

So how do I use 1Password on my iPad mini?

You would need a new OS. iOS 9 has not been updated since July 22, 2019 That is a lifetime in technology. We're not financial advisors, and I know these devices are expensive, but if the device is old enough that it will no longer run the latest operating system it may be time to start planning for a newer model. Keeping your OS updates is one of the best things you can do to security wise.

I'm sorry I don't have a more encouraging answer to share in this case.
