Basic auth requires page refresh to suggest sites (Firefox)

Hello,

First, thank you for supporting basic auth in 1Password in browser. It has come in so handy, although I know that it's used less and less.

I don't know that anything can be done about this, but wanted to report it in case there was. I've found that if I open up a new Firefox tab that has no browsing history, and then go to a known site (mostly network company sites) that uses basic auth -- the 1Password in browser plugin does not detect the site and suggest it at first. I have to cancel out of the user/password prompt (which then shows an auth error, as expected), then refresh the page. And then, 1Password in browser detects the site and suggests the login criteria.

In case there is a way to fix this, I wanted to bring it up, but realize that it's possible that the URL may not be available to 1Password from whatever Firefox API you use until after the initial security prompt has been dismissed.

Thank you!

1Password Version: 7.9.1
Extension Version: 2.1.3
OS Version: macOS Monterey

You're right, 1Password will not detect the site as basic auth prevents the site from fully loading before 1Password can offer suggestions. I'd recommend adjusting your workflow and use 1Password to both open and fill sites that use basic auth. Click 1Password in your browser toolbar and search for the site you wish to access. Click Open & Fill. 1Password will automatically open the site in a new tab and authenticate in one step. Let me know if this works for you.

You are most welcome! Hopefully that improves your authentication flow a little.

Is this why 1Password extension within Firefox won't work upon opening a new browser session? I feel like I have to open an additional tab to activate the browser extension...

Can you elaborate what you mean by:

Is this why 1Password extension within Firefox won't work upon opening a new browser session?

Are you opening Firefox to a site that requires basic authentication?

No, my browser home page is not currently set to any specific site. If I try to open the browser extension on the initial tab it just spins. It is not until I open a new tab that the browser extension opens up right away, although the new tab is not a specific site either so I'm not sure why that happens. Maybe that makes sense, maybe it doesn't, but I tried.
