Question about best way to save non-password form data for web site

I have noticed that 1Password will helpfully offer to store all values in a form for a web site so long as the fields are listed on the same page as one where it's asking you to setup your username and password.

I was wondering if there is a fast way (or, at least, what is the best-practices way) of associating values in a form that does not entail setting up a username/password with an account. For example, I am a member of some wholesale shopping clubs (e.g. Costco, Sam's Club, BJ's, etc.). To login to their web site I only need to supply my username/password, and 1Password works fine for this.

However, sometimes it asks you to fill out a form where it asks you for your member ID. Is there a way to store this under the credential record for the merchant so that it pre-populates like a username/password? Alternatively, is there a fast way for me to launch the 1Password extension via the quick-launch shortcut so that I can quickly save the information in a freeform text record?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hey @Talia521! The best way to capture data to fill multiple fields on a form is to save your login manually: https://support.1password.com/save-login-manually. Beyond that, you can review the form's HTML and grab the field id to add to your login. I do want to emphasize though that 1Password is not able to fill all types of fields. 1Password also sometimes has trouble filling certain fields together (such as two password fields on the same login form). So if you come across a form with multiple fields and are having a hard time filling all the fields, please let us know where to find that form, and we can help check on it.

As for the quickest way to save your login information, I would recommend going to your site, filling out your data, and selecting to save it as a login item to 1Password. We do have some information about shortcuts for the extension here: https://support.1password.com/keyboard-shortcuts/#1password-in-chrome-firefox-edge-and-brave

I wouldn't recommend saving your login information in a Secure Note or Document item because those cannot be used to fill. However, if you truly want to save your login information in such items, the easiest way is to open the 1Password app, click to create the item, fill your information, and save it from there. You can also use shortcuts in the app: https://support.1password.com/keyboard-shortcuts/#1password-app-windows

I hope that helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
