Saved form details - not present in Mac v8 beta [unable to fill smartscalesync.com]

There doesn't appear to be a way to view or edit Saved Form Details in the new Mac Desktop beta. Is this something that is now managed in a different way, or that is no longer necessary?

I was trying to see why I couldn't automatically log in to smartscalesync.com with 1Password and to see if I could edit the saved form details for it to try to make it work (it currently doesn't). I've been successful with other sites in the past where their login flows are less conventional. I now find that I can view Saved Form Details on my iPhone 1Password, but not edit them, and I can no longer see them at all on the Mac.

Hey @smallcheese! We've moved away from the separate web form details section in 1Password 8 and are using regular custom fields to fill in data on sites. If you need to fill in a text-field or menu that isn't captured automatically, you can add a custom field to your item, give it the HTML ID or selected Element name from the webpage, and then assign it a value you wish to use. Once that field is created, the 1Password extension should fill that value into the associated field on your site.

Give that a try and let us know if you run into any trouble!

    Thanks for the response!

What happens to all the data that’s already captured in Saved Form Details? As I mentioned above I can still see it in 7, but not 8. Is it going to be there forever but just hidden

Would be great if you could convert it for everyone, else there’s a lot of manual work to set that straight.

@smallcheese 1Password 8 should still show that data, as long as that data does not consist of username/password designated fields. Just make sure that the feature to display the web details in 1Password 8 is enabled. To do that:

    1. Open 1Password 8 > Preferences.
    2. Go to the Advanced tab.
    3. Make sure "Show auto-saved web details" is checked.

Here's an example of a login with a "pinID" text field in the web form details (from 1Password 7): https://cln.sh/5H1zfC

Here's how that login looks like in 1Password 8: https://cln.sh/k0OQge

Let me know if you have any other questions!

ok I'm on www.eftps.gov and I added the 5 custom fields for the 3 different parts of the social security number, the pin, and the internet password, but it only fills in the pin and one of the three social security number fields. do I need to be firing up the browser's developer console to get the html ids of each field? in the old version of 1password, it autofilled everything except one of the three social security fields, which was tolerable.

for the names of the fields, I used the names that were saved in 1password, in the old saved form details

  • Hey @astrophoenix:

Great question. I entered in the details manually, then chose Save in 1Password, and from then on filling was able to fill all the fields.

Let me know how you get on with that!

Ok I’ll try that. I was frustrated it stopped working after I updated 1password

It didn’t work. I typed it all in manually, and chose save in 1password and it offered to update the existing. Went back to the page, hit the hot key but it only filled in one of the 4 fields. I’m going to try saving it as a new entry

Creating a new entry and then choosing it for auto fill still didn’t work. It only fills in the password now but not the ssn or pin.

Oh wait! Instead of navigating to the page and trying auto fill, instead I selected the item in 1password, and used “open and fill”, and that worked completely! Once I knew to do that, the old 1password entry which I had updated also worked.

  • Glad to hear you were able to sort it @astrophoenix! 😄 Feel free to get in touch if there's anything else we can help you with!
