Problem with 2FA on Mac

Hi, I am trying to use 1password on a new Mac (using safari). When I add my credentials and is asked to provide my 2FA code I get the following "Incorrect authentication code. Make sure your device has the correct date and time.". I use Google Authenticator on a second device, a iPhone 13.

Reading on the forum I have checked the time on both devices using https://time.is/ and they are the same.

Good to know is that 2FA on my phone is working when logging into 1password on two other Macs.

I am stuck and need help.

Thank you for the help!

I have the same problem on ubuntu today. Can still log in the mobile app, but Chrome gives "Incorrect authentication code. Make sure your device has the correct date and time."

Hey @davisd! You may have already checked, but could you let us know if you've confirmed that the time on your mobile app and your computer are correct? You can use the site that the previous poster shared to compare the time: https://time.is

Hi @Joy_1P yes, here is the full list of what I tried (note that it is working now after the account recovery):

"Tested on 2 different pc devices ubuntu and windows, can still log in mobile app, but even from mobile android chrome trying to log in through the browser gives the same error. Checked https://time.is/ on all devices and times are the same. Tried the time syncing on the authentication app, but it shows it is already synced to google server time. Tried exporting the authentication app accounts directly to the devices, still the same error message"

In the end I tried requesting the account recovery with my admin,
and after he reset the account the 2FA now works.

  • Hi @davisd:

I'm glad to hear one of your administrators was able to reset your two-factor authentication. Feel free to get in touch if there's anything else we can help you with!

    Jack
