I'm new to 1password and feel that I must be missing something. How do I save an ssh key pair in a 1password vault so it can be shared with my team? This is needed, for example, to save the private key used with an AWS EC2 key pair. There doesn't seem to be any appropriate secret type when adding a new item in a vault. I've seen discussion of this here, for example https://1password.community/discussion/106263/storing-ssh-keys-in-1password-really-doesnt-work-at-all-well, but after a couple of years the discussion was closed with no solution. And there's this which seems to be about an ssh-agent replacement which is not what I'm looking for: https://1password.community/discussion/127886/ssh-and-git-meet-1password-🥰. I'm simply using 1password with a web browser but will reluctantly install an app (macOS) if absolutely necessary.

  • The SSH key item type is currently only available in the 1Password 8 desktop apps. The browser only supports viewing SSH key items.
