Command + \ no longer shows prompt to unlock 1Password after downgrading from version 8 to version 7

I am using 1Password 7. I upgraded to version 8, but I didn't like it, so I reinstalled version 7.

Overall, it works like before, but it started doing something kind of annoying. When I press Command + \ in Chrome while 1Password is locked, nothing happens. It no longer shows the prompt asking for my master password.

If I press Command + \ while 1Password is unlocked, it autofills the username and password for whatever site I'm on, if possible, like before. If I press Command + \ in apps other than Chrome while 1Password is locked, it shows the prompt to unlock like before. But if I press Command + \ in Chrome while 1Password is locked, nothing happens.

I am using the 1Password Chrome extension. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but that didn't seem to do anything.

Is there any way to make Command + \ in Chrome work like before?

1Password Version: 7.9.5
Extension Version: 2.3.6
OS Version: macOS 10.15.7
Browser:_ Chrome

I fixed this by installing the 1Password classic extension. You can get it here.

  • Hi @EliasZ:

Would you mind sharing what specifically that you didn't like about 1Password 8? I was able to replicate this behavior on 1Password 7 for Mac, but as you noted, 1Password 8 for Mac will prompt to unlock when you use ⌘+\ in Chrome.
