How do I disable 1Password 8 for NON-login related items?
I love 1Password for managing my passwords. However, starting with 1Password 8 it seems to want to take over all data entry on my Mac. This interferes with normal form fills, autocomplete data entry, dropdowns with data input, the ability to securely use ApplePay and biometric input of credit card data securely and locally stored. I don't want 1Password touching ANY of that stuff. I just want it to handle my login credentials and allow me to share login credentials cleanly between different platforms and even different browsers on the same platform.
1Password Version: 8.9.8
Extension Version: 2.4.1
OS Version: macOS 12.6
Browser:_ Safari

Hey @snoopsdad! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I can understand why you would want to turn off 1Password's suggestions and inline menu for non-login fields. I'm afraid that there is not yet a feature to do that. However, we do have a feature request for that, and I will add your feedback to it. Hopefully it is something that our developers consider for the future.
For now, I would recommend dismissing the 1Password inline menu and suggestion by doing the following:
- Press ESC on your keyboard.
- Click on a blank area in the page to remove focus from the field.
- Click the little 1Password icon on the right side of the field to toggle it off.
If you'd like to take things a step further and prevent the inline menu from automatically appearing on all sites in your browser, this can be done with the following:
- Right-click the extension's icon on the top right corner of the browser and select Settings.
- Go to Autofill and turn off the "Show autofill menu on field focus" option there.
I do want to clarify that turning off the "Show autofill menu on field focus" does not completely remove the inline menu function. It just keeps the inline menu from automatically appearing in the field. If you wish to use the inline menu, you can click on the 1Password icon to invoke it.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks. For the time being I have used the settings to turn off the appearance of the 1Password icon in fields entirely in Safari--and use either the toolbar or menu bar icons to access 1Password when I need to. Oddly enough, the in-field icon works just the way I want it to in Chrome. Please let's keep it that way.
