Why does the 1password icon appear in non-password fields?

I have a text input. It is not the sort of info that anybody would want to save in 1password. Why is this tooltip being displayed saying "Press the 1password icon in your browser's toolbar to unlock"? I would only expect this for input type="password". Is there a way to disabled this in the markup of the page?

  • Hey @otw,

The 1Password icon will appear in non password fields that 1Password could help you to fill for example, an address field. In this scenario, it looks like 1Password is appearing incorrectly. Can you point me at the website so I can take a look and pass it on to our development team to see if this is something we can improve?

    Thank you!

Unfortunately it is behind a login. The id and name do include the word "Email". Could that be what is causing the issue?

    Hey @otw 🙂

Thanks for the update. It is possible your thought is on the right track. We'd be happy to look into this a little deeper and share our findings with the development team here. To aid in that effort, could you do the following?

    1. Navigate to the page in the screenshot you shared.
    2. Right click the 1Password icon in the browser's toolbar.
    3. Hover with your mouse over Help and select 'Collect Page Structure'.
    4. This should download a file ending with '.json'.

Attach the page structure .json file to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here.

    Thanks!
