Why does this message appear " The extension “1Password” would like to access link.."?

What is the purpose of the above message that pops up on every site I visit? Is there a downside to disabling it?

Off-hand it sounds as if you need to grant permission to the various sites. I'd venture that you may not have configured 1Password for Safari to allow access or perhaps the option was set to deny or ask.

1Password in Safari on your Mac for use with 1Password 8. Please open it at least once and follow the directions being sure to allow it access to all sites. We need that permission to read (save details) and write (fill details) on your behalf.

We also use the link to offer suggestions on what items you have stored within 1Password.
