Hey everyone, we’re excited to announce that we’ve launched the 1Password Service Accounts public beta! This feature is now available to all of our customers.

Service accounts offer a secure way to automate infrastructure secrets in development and deployment workflows without the need for additional infrastructure. They work with the CLI to allow programmatic access to 1Password, support custom access scopes and are not tied to an individual user.

To see the feature in action, check out this demo video showing how to use service accounts with GitHub actions to easily and securely push a container image to Docker Hub.

Using 1Password Service Accounts with GitHub Actions

To get started using the beta:

  1. Log in to https://start.1password.com/ (as an Admin or Owner) and navigate to Integrations > Directory > Infrastructure Secrets Management
  2. Choose an option and follow the instructions on screen to create a service account

For more information, refer to the service accounts documentation:

A big shoutout to the team for their exceptional work in bringing the service accounts public beta to life, and special thanks to our private beta users who provided feedback throughout this process!
