Feature request: Change how favorites work in shared vaults
Hi,
When someone tags a login as favorite in a shared vault, it is tagged as shared for everyone with access to that vault and will appear in their favorites list.
A workaround would be to use a collection that would not include the vault that has the shared favorite, but this is not always possible.
I propose to make it an option:
When selecting a favorite in a shared vault, to be able to select it only for yourself or for the whole group.
When someone else doesn't want it, they should be able to remove it only for themselves or for the entire group (or maybe just an alert that they'll be removing it for the entire group).
This issue was originally brought up in 2019.
is there any update on this?

Hi @BramBE,
I don't have any updates to share about this request, though I can report that our team is still collecting feedback on the topic and reviewing it. I've also shared your feedback internally with the rest of team for consideration; thanks for taking the time to suggest this.

Much needed feature. To not be able to add Favorites (for myself) is very limiting.

I've noticed that the favourites question has been a thing in these forms since 2016, being brought up several times thru the years.
You (1password) stated that how 1password was coded back in the day makes it a big task to change how shared vaults and favourites work.
But it's been not only a few years, it's been at least 7-8 years now. Put some effort and money in to fix this old code and make it so we can have our own favourites? Will this ever be addressed? And if so, how long do you think it will take? I mean, is it 1 year or 10 years?

Please add the ability to favorite just for oneself. Many of us use 1Password to help team members that are confused by technology. Shared favorites actively causes confusion and stress.

Thank you for sharing the experiences of you and the users that you support. I've passed your comments along to our Product team but I wanted to know a few more details so that I could share them with the team as well:
- Are your users using a 1Password Families membership? Or are these employees of a company who use 1Password Business or Teams?
- Would introducing your users to the collections feature help so that they know how to view only the items that they'd like to see at a certain moment?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello 1Password Team,
I want to express my appreciation for the excellent work you’ve done with the 1Password app. Its functionality and security features have been a great asset to our company, where a 50-member team actively uses it with tens of shared vaults.
However, there is one aspect of the app that I believe could be improved for a better user experience: the way favorites are handled in shared vaults. Currently, when an item is marked as a favorite in a shared vault, it becomes a favorite for everyone who has access to that vault. Favorites should be a personal preference, unique to each user, rather than a shared attribute.
In many other applications, favorites are managed on a per-user basis. For example, in Slack, you can star messages or channels that are only marked as favorites for you, without affecting other team members. Similarly, in Google Drive, you can star documents to easily access them, and these starred items are personal to your account, not shared across the entire team.
Implementing a similar approach in 1Password would significantly enhance the usability of shared vaults. Each team member could curate their favorites list according to their own needs and preferences without impacting the organization of others. This would be especially beneficial in larger teams like ours, where individuals might need quick access to different sets of items within the same shared vaults.
I hope you will consider this feedback for future updates. Making favorites a personal feature rather than a shared one would make 1Password even more user-friendly and efficient for collaborative environments.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to seeing how 1Password continues to evolve.
Peter

@Dave_1P : came to the support page to see if there was any improvement to search. (There isn't. When I'm at home, I use my old iMac mostly to be able to access 1Password 7's search capabilities. Beyond maddening.) And saw I never responded to your questions:
- My users use 1Password Families.
- While I personally really love Collections, it isn't helpful for most of my users. Collections is a more tech-savvy user. Most of my users are either older, or they're using 1Password Families to help the older users in their life. If a user is confused by shared favorites, Collections isn't a help.

- We are a business account and are using the 1password enterprise subscription.
- We are using this (especially me, the admin that has all the vaults listed), but we have some vaults shared with 50+ people (shared customer support accounts etc...) and knowing that favoriting 1 item will favorite it for 50 people, is really bad
