Wells Fargo - Autofill problems after recent 1P update

Curious if anyone is having problems on wellsfargo.com?

My desktop has three different logins for wellsfargo - one for me, one for my wife, and one for my elderly parents, whose financials I help manage. Anyway, all three logins appear in the login box when I tap on the 1P icon, just as they always have, but I can no longer easily select the one I want. There is no, or sometimes a very slow, response when I try to select one of the three. Trying to autofill from the browser toolbar doesn't work.

Very strange - as wellsfargo.com is the only site I'm having this difficulty with.

Update - if I use this link: https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com/auth/login/present?origin=cob&LOB=CONS, 1Password seems fine.

I was having trouble with this page that I had bookmarked: https://www.wellsfargo.com/

  • Hello @Funglin! 👋

I'm sorry that you're having trouble filling your login into wellsfargo.com I don't have a Wells Fargo account but I was able to fill a test item with no issue. As a first step, can you try to see if you run into the same issue when using an Incognito window:

You'll need to give 1Password permission to work in an Incognito window (which you can revoke after the test is complete): Extensions in Incognito mode - Chrome Enterprise and Education Help

I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

@Dave_1P - the problem with that particular Wells Fargo page - whatever it was - seems to have gone away. 1P has been working fine on WF for several days now. :)

  • @Funglin

I'm happy that everything is working again. 🙂

@Dave_1P - Wells Fargo again, after the June 2024 update. My autofill (on Chrome) is not working for the username, and I get the odd "too short" message below. The URL I use to log in from is: https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com/auth/login/present?origin=cob&LOB=CONS

And now it is working again on Monday morning...

So this URL: https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com/auth/login/present?origin=cob&LOB=CONS has the problem.

But this one works: https://www.wellsfargo.com/ Completely the reverse of my issue back in April. Bookmarks changed again.

    @Funglin

Apologies for the trouble. I see the same thing you describe in my testing. I'm going to file a bug report regarding this behavior and see if there is anything we can do to resolve the trouble.

Can you try turning off auto-submit and let me know if things improve? It did for both myself and another user.

Right-click 1Password in the browser toolbar > Settings > Autofill and save.

@ag_tommy - yes, the problem goes away if I disable auto-submit.

    Nevermind...

  • @LannyDana

I've had three reports including my own and all of us reported turning off auto-submit helped. Can you clarify you tried that? If that is a yes I'd like to get this new information before the team. Thanks for your help.

Actually the "https://www.wellsfargo.com/" link is what worked. Thank you!!
btw... I turned "auto-submit" back on and it still works.

  • Thank you for following up with me. I appreciate it.

Like other posters here, I was just able to resolve an issue with auto-fill in Mac Chrome by disabling "auto-submit" here: 1Password in the browser toolbar > Settings > Autofill and save.

I suspect it's because the page in question had two "Sign On" buttons. 1Password is submitting the white button in the upper right when you are expecting it to submit the red button under the username/password field. This is poor design by Wells Fargo, in my opinion. But in any event, is the 1Password development team working on a solution for this scenario? One possible solution would be to alone one to disable auto-fill for a specific individual website. As it stand, one needs to disable auto-submit universally.

  • Hi @andrewjcohen,

Thanks for providing those details! I've shared your experience with the development team while they investigate the issue, and I apologize for any inconvenience.

If you'd prefer to continue using the auto-submit feature, then I'd suggest using the drag and drop method or copy and paste to fill your credentials on this page while that feature is enabled.

I'm unable to provide a timeline for a fix, but once there is one, it will be listed in our release notes.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

I can also very that turning off auto-submit in Safari extenion fixes this problem.

My login uses this page: https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com/auth/login/present?origin=cob
It looks identical to the one posted above but does not have the "&LOB=CONS"

  • @lysander

Thanks for confirming that turning off the "Sign in automatically after autofill" option in the 1Password extension's settings resolves things for you. The parts of the string after ? are part of a query string, so the https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com/auth/login/present URL matches with what others have reported. I've shared your experience with our development team and apologize for the inconvenience.
