Auto-submit prevents CAPTCHA completion

The recently-released auto-submit-to-login feature (sorry I don't know the proper term for it) mostly works well, but one place it doesn't work is logging into the Cloudflare dashboard. They have their own CAPTCHA which they call "Turnstile", which requires the user to tick a box to confirm that they are human. My first login attempt always fails because 1Password automatically submits the form before I have a chance to tick the box to confirm my humanity.

I suspect a similar issue may arise on any login screen which includes a CAPTCHA. The whole idea of a CAPTCHA is to filter out bots and ensure that users are human. Auto-submit is fundamentally incompatible with CAPTCHA tests.

I went looking for an option to disable auto-submit for a specific login or website. I was unable to find such an option. Ideally, 1Password would detect when a login form includes a CAPTCHA and automatically disable auto-submit. Failing that, we need a way to disable auto-submit for a specific login or website.

  • Hello, @brettdonald. Thank you for writing in.

I appreciate your feedback regarding toggling the Autosubmit feature on specific domains. I understand the usefulness of this feature, and it is aligned with an existing internal issue our developers are investigating. I've shared your feedback with the team.

Additionally, the team has an internal work item to improve how Autosubmit works with websites that use a captcha, and I've added you as an affected user there. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, you can temporarily turn off the Autosubmit feature in the 1Password extension. Here's how:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and select Settings.
    3. In the Autofill & save section, toggle off Sign in automatically after autofill.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions or additional feedback.

I can only confirm and give a thumbs up for that domain specific feature - otherwise I have to turn it off permanently, which is a pity.

Thank you for the feedback. The team has added a feature to turn off autosubmit for individual websites:

    1. In your browser, click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar.
    2. Find and click on a login item.
    3. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the item's details and then click "Don't sign in automatically".

    I hope that helps. 🙂
