How can I do this?

I use 1Password on my personal Android devices and on my PC's.

I have an iPad that is issued and owned by my employer. I use this iPad exclusively for work. I don't even use it to check my personal email.

My company is requiring us to have several different password protected accounts. Each account requires a strong password that must be changed every 60 days.

Is it possible for me to install 1Password on my employer-owned iPad with a separate profile or vault that will only contain my work related passwords?

To be clear, I don't want my personal (non-work related) passwords and password account information anywhere near my company provided iPad.

Thanks.

Does your employer provide you access to 1Password? I ask as they may push 1Password to the device, and you'll need to sign in with your respective details. Perhaps not.

If they do not, you might consider using a separate account with a Family. Some folks with Family type accounts create an additional user in the Family and then sign into only that account on the device. You could also do this with a guest account from the Family.

Outside of that, you can opt to use a secondary individual account, which would provide the largest degree of separation between work and personal data.

As far as installing 1Password goes, that may or may not be possible, depending on whether the device is managed by your employer. You should check with your IT team to be sure.

I'm not sure what you mean by "provide access to 1Password?" If you mean are they providing a subscription; no, they are not.

If you mean do I have the ability to install the 1Password app on my device; yes. I've already downloaded and installed 1Password from the App Store.

Right now, I have an individual account that I use on my personal devices. If I'm interpreting correctly what you're suggesting, my options are to spend additional to convert my Individual account to a Family account or spend additional to buy a second, separate Individual account?

Do they supply you with 1Password to use for your needs as part of your employment?

That sounds like a no. We would love to talk with them. If they are interested have them reach out.

Yes, you can convert to a family and then use another user or guest to keep the data segmented between accounts.

    • There is no ability to add your current account to one device and limit vaults. If you add your current account to the device you would place all data on that device. That's why I suggested the additional/upgraded account for that data separation you're after.

They do not supply 1Password as part of my employment. It's a very large logistics company that is a household name.

They are completely inept with internal IT.

If you're interested in pursuing the family or guest route, you might also consider talking with my colleagues in email support. They might be able to check and see if you qualify for any discounts or promotions. It costs nothing to email and ask. Just a few moments of your time.

We don't discuss account details in the forum for your privacy. However, you're always welcome to reach out to our billing team. Please use support+billing@1password.com to do so. Please send the email from the email address you've used to create your 1Password account.
