Feature Request for 1Password password generator
Dear Support!
Please add option to add custom symbols manually by hand, and saving settings would be great also so that i dont need to add my symbols again and again.
Also i wanna decide if password history is saved or not.
Thanks

Hello @dagadt! 👋
Thank you for reaching out! Can you clarify the use case of why you want to add the same symbols to your passwords? Your passwords are stronger and verifiably random if you let 1Password generate them: Use the password generator to change and strengthen your passwords
The symbols that 1Password currently includes ensure that your generated passwords will be strong while still compatible with the majority of services and websites out there.
Also i wanna decide if password history is saved or not.
Can you tell me a little more about this as well. Knowing more about why you need to turn off password history will allow our Product team to better prioritize the request.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Dave!
I dont want to use common symbols, i have mostly seen common symbols with the password generator, than i need to change manually to rarely used symbols.
Better to not see the history (yeah i get it, if some1 gaining access to my acc, they will see all saved items / logins, regardless of history)
These are all hardening methods, to strenghten the security. (i'v work at an IT company, and we have many cybersecurity educations)

Thanks for the reply. All of your logins should be using unique passwords rather than sharing passwords so, in most cases, the password history will only contain old passwords that you're no longer using just in case you need them in the future. Password history is protected using the same end-to-end encryption that your active passwords are protected by and no one can access your password history without knowing both your account password and Secret Key. You can read more about 1Password's security here:

These are all hardening methods, to strenghten the security. (Can you tell me more about why you want to use "rarely used symbols"? Adding more symbols doesn't necessarily meaningfully increase security and can potentially decrease it since you reduce the randomness of your passwords. You'll also run into more issues with site compatibility since many services don't support using rarer symbols. Using 1Password's password generator will provide you with strong passwords and I recommend reading the following articles:

Thanks for the answer. Thats the point, commonly used symbols are common. If you have common symbols in it, dose not strenghten the security. And yes, its more secure with rare symbols.
My point is, that we need more option (like adding custom symbols and saving settings). With rare symbols and min 16 character, small letter, big letter, number, its harder to bruteforce the password trust me.

Hey there,
I think this suggestion is a good one. Maybe they could add a feature where you can select/deselect to include more rare symbols in your password suggestions.
I've also noticed that when 1Password suggests a 20-character password, it usually only has 2 or 3 symbols. It's rare to see 4 symbols, and even when it does, 2 of them are often the same, like * and - are the ones mostly commonly suggested.
Keeper seems to do a better job of generating strong passwords. For example, here's a 20-character password that Keeper suggested: lU2U2@5A>]56#({3Ll9G.
Compare that to this 20-character password that 1Password suggested: J.fmXr37U8*NWCM_DcYw.
Keeper's password is much stronger because it has a wider variety of symbols and it's not as easy to guess.
Just thought I'd share my thoughts.
Cheers,
