1Password desktop app login issue

I have a few users experiencing an odd issue with accessing 1Password. We have a ticket with support but I'm hoping the community can suggest some options while I wait for their response!

The issue is some staff suddenly can't login to their desktop app but have no issue accessing 1P on the web portal. I've worked with them to troubleshoot and can confirm the issue. And because they can't access the desktop app, they can't use the browser app either so their only option is to use the web vault to copy/paste credentials.

This is on MacOS 14.7 with 1Password Desktop 8.10.48

We've tried:

  • reboots
  • reinstalling the desktop app
  • Uninstalling the desktop app, cleaning up 1P files and reinstalling the desktop app

I tried replicating the issue on my own computer but haven't been able to.
Is there anything else we can try?

Thanks in advance!

Support provided steps to successfully login to the desktop app. However, we had to add some extra steps to get around the cookies issue.

    1. Open a private window.
    2. Copy this link and paste it in the private browser window: https://start.1password.com/apps/
    3. Enter your credentials and click Sign In.
    4. Enter your 2FA code.
    5. At the bottom of Get The Apps page, click the blue Add your account directly button and click Open 1Password on the confirmation prompt that appears.
    6. Enter your account password when prompted and sign in.
  • I appreciate you sharing what you found worked. Hopefully, it will be beneficial to another member of the community.
