How can I stop 1password from asking me to save passwords in the browser?

Does anyone know how to stop 1password from putting pop-ups in front of me to save passwords? I'm finding it very annoying. And in at least 1 case, it's confused and asking me to save a password for a supabase project which has been deleted (supabase is a storage service that has password protected projects). I just don't want 1password to initiate my saving passwords - ever.

  • Hello, @jimmyjayp. Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry for the trouble. You can turn off the Save login prompt in the 1Password extension settings. Here's how:

    1. Open your browser. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and select Settings.
    2. In the Autofill & save section, toggle off the Offer to save logins option.

    I hope that helps.

Hi. Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, this isn't what I'm looking for. I want to be offered the 1password lock icon so I can initiate it fetching a password and putting in the form, I just don't want it to open any modal windows which a real distraction.

  • @jimmyjayp,

The Offer to save logins option in the 1Password extension settings is related to Autosave. The Autosave prompt should only appear if the Login item does not exist in your vault or when the credentials differ from the suggested items. Therefore, turning off this option should prevent the Autosave prompt (the screenshot you shared) from appearing.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Not the behavior I'm seeing. If I disable that option (which disables a lot of others automatically), I don't get the pop-ups (that's good), but I also don't get the opportunity to pull user/pass info from 1Password (the lock icon does not appear in the input fields to login) effectively making the integration useless for me.

  • @jimmyjayp,

Can you screenshot the 1Password extension settings under the Autofill & save section and share that in your next reply? Please do not share sensitive personal information in the screenshot.

Here's a screenshot for reference from my end:
