Family Plan vs. Adding A Second Vault
My wife and I both want to use 1Password on a MacBook Air and on our individual iPhones and iPads. Couldn’t I simply use the Personal Plan and have a separate vault for each of us? Why would I need the Family plan?

While you could use one account, I've always favored keeping my data strictly organized and sometimes with spouses this is easier said than done. Likewise, if you have any data that you wish to remain personal you could opt for the family offering.
One account would be all items shared equally and you'd share the same password.
A family membership would afford you some privacy with items only available to you. You each would have your own password. A family membership would also afford you the chance to invite adult children for estate planning needs.

Thanks ag_tommy. Since it's only the two of us (no kids), and since neither of us has anything we need to keep private from the other, I'm thinking the single plan with two vaults should work just fine. Are there restrictions on the number of devices we can use? In addition to the laptop, my wife has an iPhone and iPad, and I have an iPhone and three iPads. By the way, if that's an acceptable option, we'd just install 1Password on each device, correct? Neither of us prefers to be tethered to the internet even though that would probably work. I'd rather use the installed app.

Nope, no restrictions on devices. Yes, correct, install 1Password and sign in on each device. All memberships sync through 1Password.com but each device does have an offline cache of data if you're unable to access a network.
tl;dr
Install 1Password all around and enjoy. Happy New Year!
