Bug: Items reported as created become lost (silent error during save operation)

Browser: Mozilla Firefox 133.0.3 (aarch64)

When creating a few new items one after another, most of them are not saved, even when notifications say they were created.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Press the "+ New item" button.
  2. Choose "Secure Note".
  3. Enter name, content, tags, click "Save" button.
  4. The message below the screen would say "Item created ..."
  5. Create a few more similar items.
  6. After finishing creating new items, try to check them.
  7. Most of them will have a red block below saying "Failed to save item".
  8. The "Edit" button in the red block does not work.
  9. The "Edit" button in the top right corner allows you to edit the item, but saving it always fails with the error.
  10. After trying to reload the page in the browser, such newly added items disappear and you have to start entering them from the beginning.

If a person would not check the newly created items for errors (why should one check them when the first message stated the item was created?!) the (silently failed) items will be lost forever -- a very bad condition for a person relying on 1Password.

Here's a link to a video demonstrating the bug.

  • Hi there @x02dp6z. Thank you for providing comprehensive steps to recreate the problem you've been experiencing saving new items.

We're aware of an issue where some users may encounter this error message if more than one item is saved within the same session, or an edit to an item created during the same session is attempted. I've added your report to our open issue with the development team.

Thanks again for taking the time to report this to us. In the meantime as a workaround should you encounter this problem again, log out, then back into your account before trying to create a second item, or if you are attempting to edit an item you just created.
