Multiple 1Password users sharing an Apple MacBook
I'm wondering how to make it easier for my wife and I (both 1Password users with a family account) to share use of our Apple MacBook. We've been using 1Password for the past year and the process of logging one of us out of 1Password on the Safari browser 1Password app so that the other can log in and use the features is cumbersome and best, and downright frustrating at times.
It seems as if there is no way for one of us to log ourselves in without the other first logging him/herself out. If the person currently logged in is unavailable (e.g. out of the house at the moment), the other person either has to know their 1Password password in order to log in as the other person only to log out, or wait for the other person to return and log themself out.
What am I missing, or what settings can I change to improve this situation?

1Password is set up as a single-user type of app. That being, one macOS user is able to use the app with their Password. Separate OS user accounts for each of you is the best way to accomplish what you are looking to do. The advantage of this is when you log in, you have your Mac in front of you. You have access to your email, instant messaging, customization, and settings.

Fast User Switching is the key to this kind of setup. My family has used this feature for a long time now. I think you'll like it once you get it set up, and it's not really a hard task, more of one that you might be unaccustomed to using. Switch quickly between users on Mac - Apple Support
Alternatively, you could also log into each of your accounts using separate browse profiles. Still, you would be unable to use things like Touch ID or Apple Watch Unlock, and even then, only one would be able to use the Desktop app. For this reason, I highly recommend individual macOS user accounts.

Thanks for your response. I may experiment with setting up users on the Mac. I did that with our previous shared laptop and found it cumbersome and confusing as well. It seemed like I could never remember which profile I'd saved a given file under. Or invariably whatever profile I was logged in as, I needed something from the other one. When we replaced that machine, I decided we'd just have the one user profile. For the most part it's worked well. This challenge with 1Password is the lone exception to date.0 -
I was there in my personal use and one day I sat down and decided this was the day I was going to make it or not (fast user switching). That was 14 years ago now. I'll never go back. I maintain admin accounts on my family account so I can access and prevent lockouts and the such.
Wishing you luck. If you get hung somewhere I can try to give some pointers.

If you want to use only one account on your Mac do this then as this is how me and my wife share 1 Password. We each have our personal websites that we visit and we also have websites that we both use together like say a joint bank account. For sites that we both use and access, name the entry let say Wells Fargo Checking. And let say your wife may have a side job with her own bank account name it Wells Fargo Checking Lynn & If I have a Wells Fargo Checking account it would be named Wells Fargo Checking Tim. That way you use 1 account for 1Password and both of you have access without login and logout over and over. This of course, only works when you have total trust with each other. My sites I add Tim and the end and Her sites we add Lynn to the end and sites we both use then no end name.

I do almost the same as @em7Hizqc6uUDyY, but, additionally, we use different vaults. I have my own personal vault, she has hers, and we also have a 'common' vault that contains such things as our utility accounts. That means we can have respective entries in the private vaults for our bank accounts without a name clash.
Vaults are a really neat feature of 1P...
