iPhone and Mac out of sync

Hi, for quite some time the data on my iPhone and my MacBook have been out of sync so now they are almost two distinct datasets. I almost gave up getting them back in sync, but have decided to give it a go and try to merge the two vaults so it is again one, synced dataset of passwords and notes.
Currently running ver 6.8.9 on Mac, and ver 7 on iPhone. All key info is in the main vault.
What is best course of action without losing it all, or typing much of it from one to the other?
