Sharing Vaults
I've upgraded to 1Password 4 and have read about the procedure for sharing vaults (via Dropbox etc.) but just have a couple of questions.
I wish to setup vaults for my two children so that they can maintain their passwords on iOS and Macs but I can also help them with their passwords etc. For example, I sometimes setup accounts of them, help them administer things etc.
Is this a possible use for vaults (i.e. I have my primary vault and then a secondary vault for each of them)?
Of course, I would need access to their vault but worry about the necessity to share the vault password? Will we be able to have separate passwords of the vault (i.e. they have one and I have one that we can change independently).
Is it possible to share vault using iCloud? Dropbox should be ok but I am just curious.
Thanks,
Ashley.

Hi Ashley ( @MrHatken ),
I'd be happy to help you out with multiple vaults here. Unfortunately, the first thing I have to caution you on in that multiple vaults are not yet available on iOS. Our developers are working hard to make this feature available as soon as possible, but for the time being it requires a bit of fancy footwork to make an iOS app see a vault other than the primary vault. So while you are welcome to set up multiple vaults on your main computer, I wouldn't recommend syncing them just yet.
Other than that though, your idea is a great use of multiple vaults.
Will we be able to have separate passwords of the vault (i.e. they have one and I have one that we can change independently).
Here's the technical answer: the primary vault holds the key to decrypt the data for secondary vaults. What that means is that each secondary vault will have a separate Master Password, but as the owner of the primary vault, you will be able to have access to all secondary vaults when you enter the Master Password of the primary vault. Even if your children change the Master Password on their secondary vault, you could still access the vault by opening your primary vault (although to open that vault directly without going through the primary vault, you would need the updated Master Password.)
Is it possible to share vault using iCloud? Dropbox should be ok but I am just curious.
At this point, iCloud can only be used to sync the primary vault. All secondary vaults must use Dropbox. We'd love to have a bit more flexibility with iCloud in the future, but there are currently some limitations there.
I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, we're here for you :)

I have a very similar situation and I would guess that a large number of your customers are parents who need help managing their children's passwords (so please realize how important the sharing feature is). I have four children, a wife, and two sets of aging parents, all of whom are really, really bad at remembering passwords. So, I am trying to use your product to safely and securely manage not only my 140+ passwords, but also theirs. I used to have their logins in my vault, but I moved them all to shared vaults. The problem is that now: 1) I don't have access to the shared logins on my iOS devices and 2) the Safari client consistently bothers me to save logins as new even though they are already in my vault shared with my wife. Since iCloud keychain now remembers passwords as well, I usually do not need to type it in (it autofills). When I log in to almost every site now, unless I have that particular vault selected, 1Password pesters me to save it, which has caused me to turn off 1Password due to the nuisance. Bottom line, this requirement really needs to be properly traced and decomposed by the engineers with dads like me in mind.
Thanks!

Hi @bluegold92,
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts here! I do apologize that multiple vaults is a bit of a complication for you right now.
1) I don't have access to the shared logins on my iOS devices
Again, you have my apologies for this. I can tell you that adding multiple vaults across platforms is at the top of our developers' priority list, and we'll do what we can to get it implemented just as soon as possible!
2) the Safari client consistently bothers me to save logins as new even though they are already in my vault shared with my wife.
To prevent 1Password from asking to save Logins, you can uncheck the 'Automatically ask to Save new Logins' option in Preferences > Browsers. If there are only specific sites that this is bothering you for, and you'd like to leave it enabled for most sites, simply add any URLs where you don't wish to see a prompt on to the excluded list below the option.
Please note that this feature will be more accurate in detecting which Logins you already have saved if you are using 1Password to open and fill the sites instead of Safari and iCloud. ;)
When I log in to almost every site now, unless I have that particular vault selected, 1Password pesters me to save it,
We have seen many users request a more comprehensive search feature that includes all secondary vaults, and I'll add your vote to the request, I think comprehensive searching could help with this as well.
I hope this helps make your browsing life at least a bit easier in the interim - please let me know if you have any further questions!
