Afraid to purchase?
I am considering purchasing this product. I am concerned that I don't have a "safety net" if I let the system generate the complex passwords. What is my protection against glitches in your product, or downtime or a product failure that leaves me unable to access important personal information? Thanks.

New version 4 seems buggy to me. I upgraded and really wish I hadn't. I would hold off for a while if I were you.

Hi @JPerl52,
I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we have been a bit overwhelmed since the launch of 1Password 4 for Mac. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.
I completely understand your hesitance. It can be a bit of a leap to trust an app with all of your important data. Especially, as you mention, once you start taking advantage of the strong password generator to create random passwords it would be impossible to memorize. I want to assure you that our developers are committed to making 1Password as secure and user-friendly as it can be. A big part of this of course is ensuring that the software is reliable and does not leave you without access to your data. We run extensive beta-testing on all versions of 1Password to ensure that any major issues are rooted out and solved prior to release.
One of the main strengths of 1Password is its cross-platform syncing. By using 1Password on multiple platforms (say your Mac and your iOS device), you reduce the chances that a software bug will cause you any harm. Your data is also stored locally as well as in any sync solution that you select, so in the event that a sync solution fails, you still have your local data. Additionally, if you sync your database to Dropbox you have access to your data from any modern web browser via 1Password Anywhere. So, even if your computer crashes, your data is backed up online, away from your system, and easily accessible via the Dropbox website. :) For even simpler access to your passwords, there is a print feature which will allow you to print off your entire database to store in a secure location -useful for wills and emergency situations.
This is only a brief outline of some of the ways that 1Password helps to protect your data. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to help!
Mike,
If you're still having difficulty with the recent upgrade, I'd be happy to help you get things sorted out!
