Mac Safari and failure to insert password (sometimes both username and password)

I have noticed this a lot recently. Unfortunately, the problems I have been having relate to the upgraded version of 1Pass (v4.1).

When I hit command-\, the username and password usually fill in fine. However, I have noticed lately that it is unreliable. I will hit the cmd-\ combo and nothing happens. Sometimes it will insert nothing and hit enter on the page, returning an error since nothing was entered. Sometimes it will simply enter the password and no username. It is unreliable and unpredictable and VERY FRUSTRATING. I went with a solution like this, but every time this happens, I get kinda pissed. V4 removed functionality (searching on secure notes and tags) and has intermit ant problems.

I find that if I restart my browser, it will fix the problem for a limited amount of time. I also notice that when I hit cmd-\, the menu bar ice is the active one, not the web browser one. Why is that? Again, more changes and more frustrations.

Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi @ksv666,

I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we experienced a surge in support requests recently. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.

I completely understand your frustration with the browser extension - I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having trouble with it lately. Our developers have been doing a great job squashing bugs though. Please make sure that you have the latest and greatest version of 1Password: 4.1.2 for purchasers from the Mac App Store, and 4.1.3 for users who purchased directly from our website. I'd also like you to take a peek at our support article: 1Password fails to fill data - please read through and try all the options that might apply to your situation.

If you are still seeing this issue I'd love to know a bit more about the problem: are specific websites acting up for you or is this happening for all sites? The more information you can provide for us here, the more quickly we'll be able to track down a solution.

Yes, I have the latest version (Version 4.1.2 (412009)). I went through the FAQ pages on the fill problems before I posted. I tried all of them. I am seeing this on credit card website or other secure type sites. Sometimes, it just stops enter all info and I need to restart. I have been using this for about a year, and these problems never happened with v3.

    Hi @ksv666,

I'm sorry that none of those solutions worked for you. Unfortunately, to get a better idea of where things might be going wrong, I need a few more specifics:

    • Can you give me the URLs of a few websites that consistently fail to fill in data?
    • I know that you mentioned visiting the FAQ sites, and that's great, but just in case, have you tried Saving a new Login manually for these sites?
    • What steps are you using to fill on sites - do you visit the site first, or access the Login directly from 1Password Mini?

I don't mean to pester you for details, but a "this happens sometimes on some websites" problem is difficult for us to replicate on this end, which makes it harder for us to find a solution.

Thanks so much for your patience here!

    Here is a site: https://servicing.capitalone.com/C1/Login.aspx
I have a username and password, yet only the password enters.

Oh, I also have another entry for the same site and the username and password enter fine (different account)

    Hi @ksv666,

Thanks for providing that URL! I was able to create a successful Login using these steps:

    • Edit the login that you currently have for this website by appending an "Old" to the title - just so you can tell them apart.
    • Visit the site and fill in the fields you want filled. Do NOT click the login button.
    • Click the 1Password extension, and unlock it if necessary
    • Click the gear icon (or vault icon if multiple vaults are enabled) in the upper right corner.
    • Select Save new login.
    • Give the entry a unique and identifiable title.
    • Click Save.
    • Revisit the site and see if 1Password fills in the site correctly.

I think this should fix things for you, particularly since you've got another entry for the same site that behaves correctly ;)
