Password question

Everytime I try to use my password for one of my accounts, I have 3 or four icons coming up on my 1 Password.
I'm asked for a separate user name, and then confirmation on a second sign in.
I'm not sure how to easily increase the strength on a new entry.
Within the 3 choices which seem to be create everytime I visit their site, some password strength's are yellow, while one is green.
I'm still trying to learn Password one, but the double sign in doesn't work for me.
Thanks

    Hi @irad,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having difficulty getting 1Password working properly for you. Let's see if we can't get things straightened out here:

Everytime I try to use my password for one of my accounts, I have 3 or four icons coming up on my 1 Password.

It sounds like you may have been saving multiple Logins for each website. Please take a peek through the Duplicate Passwords section of the Security Audit (in the left sidebar of the main app). This section will show you all of the sites that are using the same password. If the password and username is the same on all the entries for one site, you can simply remove the extras.

I'm not sure how to easily increase the strength on a new entry.

To increase the strength of a generated password, simply increase the number of characters, or add a few numbers or characters into the mix.

I'm still trying to learn Password one, but the double sign in doesn't work for me.

We're happy to help you learn about 1Password! I'm not quite sure what you mean about double sign-in however. If you find that 1Password is locking too quickly for you and you have to enter your password too many times while browsing, please take a peek at your locking settings in Preferences > Security. You can change the amount of time that 1Password is unlocked for so that you can access it more easily.

I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask - we're here for you! :)

I have a problem figuring out 1. How to increase security I found on 2 Duplicates. I thought I would use the generator and click in the password and insert it into my logins. I want to make sure they are both Green and not yellow security passwords for maximum protection.
    2. Can I simply, double click a log-in, to put in my secure password and user name?
    3. I have a problem signing into an account that a 2 step process. A. I have to put in my user name, and on a second page, I would have to type in a secondary password.
    4. I have a problem remembering my password and couldn't change it to something more familiar.
I finally remembered it, and am able to get.
What if I want to change this password on a quarterly, or monthly basis?
I recently suffered a TBI, and have some short term memory loss, so I thought your software would give me security, and eliminate the need for multiple passwords, on multiple sites.
My needs are pretty simple, since it's for a person just using the computer at home for 99% of the time.

    Thanks.

I guess I'm lost following the thread trying to figure out IP4. I tried following your instructions, but seem to be more lost.
What is your turnaround for answering my question,

    Hi @irad,

I'm sorry to hear that things are still a bit confusing here. I'll do my best to clear things up!

    1. How to increase security I found on 2 Duplicates.

Here's how to change your password on an existing account:

    • Use your existing Login to sign in to the account you want to change
    • Find the "change your password" page - this is usually in a place like Account Details
    • Copy and paste your current password if necessary
    • Click on the key icon in your menu bar to open 1Password Mini
    • Select the Password Generator and create a new strong (green) password
    • Press the 'Fill' button to fill this password into the 'new password' fields (this will also copy the new password to your clipboard)
    • Save the changes on the website to finalize the password change
    • If 1Password does not ask you to update your existing Login, open the main app to the Login you just used, click on the password field and use Command-V to paste the new password on your clipboard into the field.
    1. Can I simply, double click a log-in, to put in my secure password and user name?

Double-clicking a Login from the main app should open the page in your default web browser and automatically fill in your username and password. If certain sites are not behaving for you, please let me know which sites you are having trouble with (as well as your default browser), and I'll do some investigating on my end.

    1. I have a problem signing into an account that a 2 step process. A. I have to put in my user name, and on a second page, I would have to type in a secondary password.

Here's our support article on how to Create multi-page Logins. It should help explain the process.

    1. I have a problem remembering my password and couldn't change it to something more familiar. I finally remembered it, and am able to get. What if I want to change this password on a quarterly, or monthly basis?

I assume you are talking here about your Master Password. We don't generally recommend changing this on a regular basis, primarily because it can get confusing as to which one is the latest. It is important to remember here that you are the only one who has your Master Password. If you do forget it, there is no way for us to re-set it for you without losing your data. If you are experiencing some memory loss, it might be a good idea to write your Master Password down and store it in a secure (and easily memorable) location in case you do forget it.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any further questions!
