Database Problems

I have been using 1Password for years and have kept the database on dropbox after storing it on what preceded iCloud (me?). Since upgrading to version 4 and Mavericks, I have not been able to sync with my iPhone and iPad correctly using Dropbox. They appear to be looking at different versions of the database. I can still see the database on dropbox but when I switch syncing to that on my laptop, I get an older and incorrect version of the database. I have solved that by reverting back to a safe backup. However, if I go into preferences / sync I noticed that it does point to the database in Dropbox. If I change syncing to that, it reverts to the old and incorrect version again. Last night, I switched to iCloud syncing and that seems to be OK.

My questions are these. Since I am not using the active database on dropbox, where is it? Can I delete the database on Dropbox now that I am using iCloud syncing? Where is the database on iCloud - I can't find it? Where are the backups located on my hard drive using Mavericks?

Thanks.

    Hi Fred,

I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you here but we experienced a surge in support requests recently. We're all working hard and putting in extra hours to get back to our usual snappy responses and we really appreciate your patience.

The default location of your 1Password data in Dropbox is this: /Dropbox/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain. If you're happily syncing with iCloud, you can remove any .agilekeychain files you see in Dropbox. It sounds like 1Password may have gotten mixed up between two different keychain files in Dropbox, and i'd be happy to help sort things out with you in the event that you would like to try Dropbox again.

In 1Password 4 your data is always stored locally in the Library (the exact file path will vary depending on if you purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store or directly from our website). When you sync this data, a copy is made and stored in the appropriate location. The location of backups will also depend on where you purchased 1Password 4. Backups for the Mac App Store version (latest version number 4.1.2) are stored here: ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/Backups, and backups for the webstore version (latest version number 4.1.3) are stored here: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Backups. These backups are always accessible through the File > Restore ... menu.

I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, we're here for you :)
