Newly generated passwords sometimes not saved

Hello,

When I generate a new password for a current login I run into two problems:

One is that sometimes 1PW (4.1.3) does not ask to update the old password. Because this happens to me often, I now routinely select "save to clipboard and fill". I then usually save the new password in an Apple Note just to be certain I have it.

The second problem arises in the instances when 1PW does not ask to update the old login. If I have not saved the the new password in a Note and assume that 1PW will have saved the password in the clipboard (because I have ascertained that that option is selected), when I manually go to update the old login the new password has not been saved. The outcome is that I have changed my password but do not have a copy (of course when 1PW fills it in on the change password page of the website I am updating it is all dots). So I then have to go through the forgotten password routine on the website. This is very, very annoying. Even more annoying is that sometimes 1PW DOES ask me if I want to update the login. Is there something I am missing here?

Best wishes
Richard

    Hi, @richard-w.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with 1P4 not updating and/or asking to update changed passwords. You mentioned:

One is that sometimes 1PW (4.1.3) does not ask to update the old password. Because this happens to me often, I now routinely select "save to clipboard and fill".

Is it this 1P mini Password Generator option you're selecting?

The second problem arises in the instances when 1PW does not ask to update the old login.

I'm not sure I understand the difference between these problems. What are steps you're using to change a password when 1P4 isn't asking to update it? Could you post the URL of any site where you've had that problem so we can do some testing here?

If I have not saved the the new password in a Note and assume that 1PW will have saved the password in the clipboard (because I have ascertained that that option is selected), when I manually go to update the old login the new password has not been saved. The outcome is that I have changed my password but do not have a copy (of course when 1PW fills it in on the change password page of the website I am updating it is all dots).

Whenever Copy or Fill is used in 1P mini's Password Generator a new Password item will be created. And if a Login item has been successful updated with those Password item details then the Password item will be automatically removed. Otherwise the Password item will be retained as a "safety net".

Do you see any items listed when you select the Passwords category in the 1P main app sidebar?

Even more annoying is that sometimes 1PW DOES ask me if I want to update the login.

Is it asking when you haven't changed anything?

Thanks for your patience and any additional information to help us resolve this problem.
