Importing Files
Hi, new to 1Password. I have a csv file that was created from password keeper on blackberry. I can't import it - file is greyed out. I changed the file extension to 1pif which stopped it being greyed out but hit import and nothing happened, I opened the csv file in numbers then exported as a csv (in case it was an excel thing) but greyed out again. Have 200 records so really don't want to start again (and 1 of reasons I chose 1password because it said it could import csv).
Help! Jon.

Hey @Haggerstoner,
Go to File > Import... in the menu bar, then change the file format to CSV:
Then, double click the CSV file, even if it is greyed out. It seems that there might be a bug where it remains greyed out even after switching from 1PIF, but I was able to import a CSV file even though it didn't appear it was clickable.
Hope that helps! :)

Thanks Jasper, Well I did that - the csv file is still greyed out but you can import it. However it has saved all 200 passwords as a single password with nearly a 1000 fields. In the csv file each password is on a different line. Please advise what I should do next, thanks.

Hi, @Haggerstoner.
To help verify the format of your CSV input file before importing please refer to the CSV — Comma Separated Values section in this article:
How can I import data from another application?
Also check if any fields of your input file contain these special characters:
double quote: " single quote: ' long dash: – backslash: \
At least those are known to interfere with importing, especially in password fields.
And try changing newlines to LF (Line feed) and ensure the input uses UTF-8 character encoding. For more details refer to: this post (#15).
Finally, using multiple vaults can be handy for testing importing and/or storing imported data more permanently.
Please let me know if that helps you have more success with importing. Thanks!
