Question about license

Seems like this question should have an answer front and center on the buy page but …nope. Does the single purchase of the license allow for use across all of my mac devices-iphone, iPad and laptop with the single payment of $49 or do I have to buy it separately for each device? also, what is the cost of adding another user?

    Hi @LoriK,

1Password licenses are platform-specific. This is really just a fancy way of saying that each user will need a license for each type of computer or device that they want to use 1Password on. A license for 1Password 4 for Mac can be used on all your Mac computers, but 1Password 4 for iOS is a separate purchase. This is because although both your Mac computers and your iOS devices are made by the same company (Apple), they use different operating systems (OS X and iOS), which requires that we write a completely different program to work on each platform. We have our software available individually on each platform to make it easier to meet each customer's unique needs without charging them for software that they don't need. Because we offer 1Password on such a variety of platforms, we have found this method allows the most flexibility for our users.

Now, if you would like to buy a license for more than one user, you might want to check out the family bundle pricing available in our webstore. A family license will allow up to 5 users to install 1Password 4 on as many Macs as they use. You can get the equivalent of a family license for 1Password 4 for iOS by using your AppleID to install 1Password 4 for iOS on your family members' devices. (Keep in mind that the AppleID will be required to update the app.)

I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, we're here for you!
