Master password for 1P Mini works but not for main app
Hi there. I am using 1P 4.2 on a Mac. I was changing the master password and carefully noted it all down, but have since found that 1P mini unlocks OK with the new password but the main app will not. Why?
Also, do I need the same master password for each instance of 1P I am using (in my case, MacBook, MacMini, iPhone and iPad)?
Thanks.

Hi @ahl032,
Have you restarted your Mac since the 4.2 update? If that doesn't resolve the issue with using different Master Passwords for unlocking from the 1Password main app and mini please let us know.
Using the same Master Password for 1Password on all your systems/devices is recommended. Changing it on one of them can, and is intended to, cause the change to sync to the others. However, as stated in Known Issues in 1Password 4 for Mac:
- Changing Master Passwords do not sync to other Macs. Once you change it on one Mac, you'll need to change it manually on the other Macs.
Until our developers manage to squash this bug, if you do change your Master Password, please confirm that it has updated on all computers and devices, and change it manually if it has not. That way you won't be left wondering where it actually did and didn't get updated.
Jeff ( @jpgoldberg ) has a more detailed explanation about it here (post #24) and in the Knowledge Base post it refers to.
For me the benefit of one strong, memorable Master Password is preferable to keeping track of different ones. And it changes rarely enough that any manual "syncing" of it is totally reasonable for the assurance of it being what I expect it to be.

Hi there. Thank you for your response and the helpful links. I had rebooted and nothing changed as a result. However, I have just reverted to the previous master password by opening but not unlocking the main app and now the main app and the mini unlock with the same password. Now I'm going to get a new master password according to Jeff's advice. Thank you again.
