Locked out on first try & choosing a master password
I created and confirmed a master password sentence, but when I tried to use it the first time 1P said it was wrong. It seems odd that I could either make a mistake twice when creating it, or have forgotten something one minute later. Obviously there's no data in the vault, but I don't know what to do. Also, I read several articles in the blog about creating a strong master password. The blog seems to recommend four random words chosen by rolling dice, but the program asks you to create a sentence as a password. Which is correct? Also, to be proactive, I'd like to know if a short sentence (or four random words) is fine because I will also be using this on my iPad with the iOS version and it's much more of a pain to type, so shorter and with maybe one symbol is definitely better.
Recap: 1) how do I reset 1Password? 2) random words or sentence? 3) Is short ok, and should I include symbols and/or numbers?

You can start over with 1P4 in the way set out here. I'll leave it to others more expert than I to advise on your other two questions - although the general principle is to have a strong but memorable master password that you don't need to jot down on a scrap of paper left by the computer! :) Rather more constructively, there's an excellent article here by the AgileBits Master himself (although it sounds as though you may have seen that already).
