Before purchasing: Converting trial version into purchased & downloading from AgileBits vs. AppStore
Hi,
I am about to purchase 1Password and have a few questions:
1) I downloaded the software for Mac on your website. It did not say anything about a trial period on the page but I would still assume that this is only a 30 day trial since I read this under your licences section. Correct? What happens after 30 days, will it prompt me to buy the licence automatically or will I be shut out if I don't upgrade before then?
2) After I downloaded the software from AgileBits I realised that I should have downloaded it from the AppStore to make sure it syncs between my iOS devices. Now, I could just reinstall and download again but since I've already started using 1Password (and saved some pretty difficult passwords) I wonder if there is a way to save that information and transfer it to a new version? Or I can I just as well stay with the AgileBits version? It's very important for me to sync between iOS devices since I am always changing between my Mac, iPad and iPhone.
Thanks!

I believe (but am not certain) that after 30 days you can still use 1PW with the passwords you have, but cannot add new logins without buying a licence.
The main difference between the two versions is that the App Store version will always allow iCloud sync. The web site version currently allows syncing via iCloud, but Apple might remove this option at any time. Both version allow Dropbox sync or other methods of syncing.

@danco is correct about both 1 and 2.
I am using the AgileBits store version under a family license, and I use iCloud for syncing without difficulty. I think it would unwise for Apple to decide to make iCloud unavailable for that version, but apparently it is something the could do if they wished, which is why AgileBits advises those who need to rely on iCloud to buy from the Mac App Store. If you could live with Dropbox syncing or one of future other cloud services that may be added, then it doesn't really matter which you buy.
If you're at all interested in participating in beta testing, you can only do that if you're using the AgileBits web store version. And some users like the fact that new releases appear sooner on the AgileBits site than at Apple; Apple has an approval process that slows the release of updates, usually by a weeks or two. And, to make life even simpler, you can switch from the MAS version to the AgileBits version if you wish at some future time. The AgileBits version will recognize that you have the MAS version installed and automatically license it.
