Upgrading from v3 to 4 - Single/Family Query

I have two computers run in the same household, do I need to purchase separate (family) licences to put it on more than one computer ? Will it know if I have another computer on the network with the same licence key/serial ?

    The licenses are per user per platform. If you are the only user, you can install it on as many Macs as you can accumulate, whether on the same network or not. If there will be separate users in the same household, the correct license would be the family one, which is for up to five members of the same household, each using their own installation.

    If you buy from the Mac App Store, you may use that on as many machines as you like, so long as all of them share the same AppleID.

    To tell you the truth, I have no idea what kind of checking is done among multiple copies. I have a family license from the AgileBits web store.
