Constantly Syncing - Causing Mac OSX Problems (CPU Usage Spikes and File Handling Problems)

Using 4.4 on OSX 10.9.3 with iCloud Sync.

Symptoms: 1Password is syncing constantly (1Password Mini Dialogues flicker and the hover/copy capabilities are unusable.

Evidence in the activity monitor suggests a disproportionate use of CPU time as well (see attached screenshot of activity sorted descending by CPU time after my Mac had been running for about 15 minutes).

The issue causes instability of the OS (likely that it is opening but not closing OS-level file handles) and preventing other programs from running once 1Password has been running for a day or so.

Any fix available?

Thanks. Looking forward to a stable Mac again.

Further information / insight can be seen in this latest screenshot. Here is activity monitor when 1Password Mini has been active for around 1.5 days and stops responding.
