I can no longer see all of my user id: just a bunch of ****!
This seemed to have just started up recently, but it's really annoying. If I wanted to see a bunch of stars when I open 1Pw I'd go hit my head on a wall!!! When I enter my master password to open my list, I want to see the WHOLE THING. not a bunch of stars. It's hiding parts of my userid and I can't tell what it's supposed to be! It was annoying enough to just get *** for passwords, but userid, too? Come on... I read all through the preferences in hopes of being able to make an adjustment. no luck. can you help me with this?

Hi Elizabeth,
Please make sure that Conceal Passwords is disabled under the View menu:
Or disable the Conceal Passwords option under the Security tab of the Preferences window:
And when Conceal Passwords is enabled, you can press the Option key to temporarily reveal hidden passwords.
I hope that helps. :)

@sjk, I suspect you've misinterpreted Ms Brown's issue (by the way, it looks like you've set your username as your full name including middle names - probably not a entirely wise security practice but that's just me). She's saying userid's are displaying asterisks too.
Ms Brown, I have to confess I've not seen anything like that before but I'm just a user of 1Password, not an employee of theirs. Is there any way you can safely create a screenshot that highlights this? Say if you create a fake item and the filter on that so it's the only displayed entry. I wouldn't want you to leak any sensitive information by accident.
I know that for custom sections where you can edit the label and field you can set the field to be either text or password (so it's obscured unless you do as sjk has directed above) but for a standard login item the username and password fields are non-changeable so I'm perplexed as to how that might be happening on a standard one. Maybe sjk will have a better idea although I've yet to stumble upon another thread like this one before.

Your suspicious is essentially correct, @littlebobbytables. :)
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. After re-reading Elizabeth's post it's clear that I overlooked her issue with parts of the userid being hidden with stars (asterisks). However, it's still unclear to me where in the 1Password interface that's happening.
Elizabeth,
First, please give this a try to see if it makes any difference:
- Run 1Password.
- Press Control-Command-Q to quit 1Password and 1Password mini.
- Reopen and unlock 1Password.
If you still have the issue, restart your Mac and then check 1Password again for the problem.
And if it's still not fixed, can you describe more specifically where you're seeing "a bunch of stars" that don't belong there? For example, are they appearing for username fields of items in the item list and/or in the details? Similar to areas I've annotated in this image:
Or, like @littlebobbytables wondered, maybe you can take a screenshot to highlight the problem without disclosing any personal, sensitive information?
Also, which version of 1Password are you running?
Thanks in advance for your help with resolving this. I'm sorry for the earlier misunderstanding! :)

my girlfriend is having the same problem in that her user name contains asterisks. Both the index (vertical listing of all entries) and the selected item of that index have the same information containing a part of her user name followed by a bunch of asterisks. She has the latest OS X updated version along with 1password5 @ 5.1 running on MBA mid 2011.

Hi @theselfitter,
Is it for all sites, or only a few? If it's all sites, it's likely a different problem than the one I'm thinking of.
Is 1Password still able to login to these sites?
This issue I'm thinking of is usually caused by websites that decide to conceal the username after the user has entered it. They save off a copy of the username the user typed in, and they replace the text field text with "********". Unfortunately this tricks our browser extension into thinking your username and/or password changed, so it offers to update it in 1Password. We're pretty conditioned (as users) to just let 1Password do its thing and update our entry. Because every site that does this does so differently, there's on good way for us to hook into the process and detect they're doing it. This usually makes it impossible to login to these sites until it's fixed. Unfortunately fixing it is a manual process.
Does this sound familiar, or are you experiencing something different?
Rick
