Previous Username not tracked

Just realized I was still using 1Password 3.8.xx and switched over to 1Password 4 (old one was in the Dock, so that is what I clicked on!). This was while in the process of updating the login information for a company's website (company 1) that I log into regularly that had been acquired by another company (company 2) that I also have login credentials with.

The login information for "Company 1" is now the same as "Company 2". 1Password 4 asked me if I wanted the new information saved, I clicked yes. 1Password 4 created a new entry, even though the URL was identical - (that is annoying, but I deal with it). I went into 1Password and changed my original entry's username and password to the new ones. I clicked on the "show previous passwords" button and saw my previous password and then realized that the previous username information is not displayed anywhere (like in 1Password 3.8.xxx).

That is important data that used be tracked and I want kept! What happened?
Please put it back in.

Now if you want to tell me that you consider "same website, different username" as a different entry, I can understand that might be desirable sometimes, but I don't care, I want "previous username" tracked if I directly edit a login entry. I will delete what I consider the "duplicate entry" as needed. The reason I would do this is because my various log in entries have subscription information, tags and other notes as well that I don't want to copy over to the "new entry".

Thanks.

    Hi @Andrew431,

Thanks for taking the time to write in! You're right, 1Password 4 does not track previous usernames. By my memory, I don't believe 1Password 3 did so either.

Of course, you're welcome to save your previous usernames in a custom section or in the notes field if you like to keep track of that sort of thing. :)

1Password 4 asked me if I wanted the new information saved, I clicked yes. 1Password 4 created a new entry, even though the URL was identical - (that is annoying, but I deal with it).

When 1Password pops up with that 'Save new Login' dialogue box, if you have an already existing Login for that site, you will have the option to 'Update Existing Login' instead of saving a new one. This could save you duplicate entries in the future.

I hope this helps, but we're here if you have any further questions!
