Backing up 1Password Windows data to Dropbox
Pretty new at this...
The user guide says
"You can copy all the files to an external hard drive or a USB flash drive; you can put them under the automatic control of an online backup or sync service. Note that the Dropbox sync solution includes retention of your data for up to 30 days, in addition to the copies of your current 1Password data that exist on other synced computers. This redundancy makes Dropbox even more useful."
But it goes on to say:
"Tip: We do not recommend keeping your automatic backup files in your Dropbox folder hierarchy, because too many backups could quickly use up all your Dropbox space."
Would someone please clarify this for me? I'd love for the data to be auto backed up to Dropbox.
Thanks

That 1st quote talks about your 1Password vault (1Password.agilekeychain). That 2nd quote talks about your backups -- usually named 1Password (X items).agilekeychain_zip
Please do not store your backups in Dropbox. Before you know it, your Dropbox is full.
Please do store your 1Password vault (1Password.agilekeychain) in Dropbox. It is protected with your master password. Assuming your master password is strong, then your 1Password vault is safe in Dropbox.
Thanks!

Dropbox is not a backup service; it is a sync service. That's why we recommend it for syncing and not for storage of your backups.
As well as using up your Dropbox allocation rather quickly, another consequence of storing your backups in Dropbox is that they'll be copied to all the connected devices, filling up valuable disk space there, too. (Backups from 1Password for Windows are also of no use on a Mac or on an iOS or Android device.)
