IOS will not recognize Master Password set up on Mac 1Password (bought from App store)

I bought 1Password from the Mac App Store:
"1Password Version 5.0 (500019)
Mac App Store"
I set up a new account and Vault with a Master Password. I then downloaded IOS 1Password onto my iPhone. The IOS app was able to find the vault on iCloud, but will not recognize the Master Password. It gives me the correct hint, but will not recognize the password. After 1) changing the Master Password and (2) redownloading the IOS app, I was able to sync over WiFi. However, it will still not recognize the MasterPassword to sync over iCloud. I am running OS X Yosemite (10.10) and IOS 8.1

So one silly question before you continue reading. As you're running Yosemite and iOS 8.X have you 'upgraded' to the new iCloud with iCloud Drive? If you have then continue reading

I wonder if it might be worth disabling iCloud sync on both devices, wiping 1Password's iCloud data and starting afresh as certainly what you're experiencing sounds odd.

    1. Make sure your mac's vault is up to date and contains all of your login items. This sounds like the case anyway given you say you're trying to get the iPhone to sync with the existing iCloud data.
    2. Once you're happy that your mac is current and contains everything disable all syncing on your phone.
    3. Back on your mac, if you are currently syncing to iCloud then when you go to disable iCloud syncing you should be given a checkbox asking if you want to "Delete data from iCloud". Tick that box and continue disabling the sync. If you aren't currently syncing via iCloud then in System Preferences : iCloud you can manage your storage and delete 1Password's data from there. If you're syncing via another method turn that off too.

My preference at this point is to wipe the data stored on your iPhone so you start with an empty vault. It sounds drastic but if you've gotten past step two then you're happy the locally stored vault on your mac holds everything so wiping the phone loses nothing. You can do this from within Settings : Advanced of the iOS version and the second to bottom option, Erase Data and Settings, does exactly what it says it will.

Now it's like when you first downloaded 1Password, empty and waiting to be initialised. So if you set up 1Password 5 for Mac to sync to iCloud this should once more be a complete copy of your primary (local) mac vault, using the same master password as you use to unlock your mac 1Password (as it should have been the first time but wasn't). Once it says it has synced you'd go through the steps you've already performed at least once on your iOS device to download an existing vault via iCloud.

This is all the iCloud version of turning your computer off and on again. While iCloud has been improved a lot recently it isn't without its quirks.

Let me know how it goes either way. If there are problems report back anything you can and we can take it from there.

No matter what, your primary vault on your mac should remain safe as we're only going to clear the sync data and your iOS device which held nothing but what was on your mac (based on your description).

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried Megan's, which was similar to yours, but without wiping all the data. So far, that less drastic solution has worked. However, I am going to remember yours, just in case the syncing gets funky again. Thank you.

    Hi @memalakoff‌

Glad to hear it's all working again which of course is the most important part
