Licensing options when buying from MAS but don't have Yosemite yet

I want to take advantage of 1 password 5 from the MAC app store as it is 30% off and I have a mac app store gift card, and WHEN i upgrade to Yosemite I can use icloud syncing.

My question is if I buy it now from the MAC app store, can I use that 'purchase or serial number' to run 1Password 4 (via dropbox sync) on my current Mavericks setup. Then in theory when I do upgrade to Yosemite, could I then use my original mac app store purchase to run 1Password5 and iCloud sync ?

Hi @jalonline‌ If you purchase 1Password 5 and attempt to install it on a Mavericks machine the Mac App Store will helpfully point out you can't run this version and ask if you want to download the last compatible one. So you can run the Mac App Store version of 1Password 4 for now, then when you upgrade to Yosemite the MAS will offer 1Password 5 as an update (which it will keep hidden until then as you can't run it). Now I believe you will still be able to use iCloud to sync for the moment assuming all devices are running 1Password 4 but if any device you have is running 1Password 5 then stick with your Dropbox plan and it'll all be fine until you're entire system is 1Password 5 friendly. Hope that helps
