If you were to purchase either the Mac & Windows bundle or just the Mac version, you will be purchasing a licence that works for 1Password 3 all the way up to 1Password 5.
- 1Password 3 will work on 10.6 and above with the caveat that it hasn't been tested/supported for the much later versions
- 1Password 4 will work on 10.8 and above.
- 1Password 5 will work only on 10.10 (the latest).
Rest assured purchasing a licence from us will mean access to a copy of 1Password that will run on pretty much any machine still ticking. Of course to run the latest and greatest version of 1Password does mean running a recent version of OS X or iOS. That's the price I'm afraid for trying to keep up with Apple's pace of innovation.

When I finally go to Yosemite will it automatically update?
Will the combo purchase also run on my two Android devices?

It will offer the update automatically yes, as soon as it sees you can run the newer version.
The Mac & Windows bundle won't licence you for Android I'm afraid. The app is free to download for a trial period I believe and then there is an in-app purchase you can make if you find it useful. I've been informed by our Android experts that an in-app purchase on one device will transfer to another as long as all the devices are tied to the same google account.

How much is the in-app license?

@golfgame Here in the UK where I'm based it came up as £4.99 so probably ~$8 USD at a guess? If you check the google page for our app it will tell you the cost for your location.

Thanks, $8.00 prix is close enough. Once purchasing the in-app license is that a one time payment as the others are?

@golfgame That's correct, a one-time purchase will allow you to use that version for as long as you want/can and you will be eligible for all minor updates too. AgileBits does reserve the right to make new major versions a paid upgrade but it isn't guaranteed that we will e.g. 1Password 5 was a free upgrade for all 1Password 4 users.

Are the passwords stored in the cloud or on the local drive?

Local. That's one of the differences between 1PW and other password managers.
But you can use the cloud (Dropbox) to synchronise your passwords between devices.

Is Dropbox considered secure? I didn't think it was?
When it stores the passwords are they encrypted?

Dropbox has had some breaches. But many of the AgileBits staff (well, maybe not MANY, because they are a small company) use Dropbox.
Yes, the passwords on Dropbox are encrypted, which is why the AgileBits people are happy to use it. Basically, they have designed the program so that even a stolen database is very secure against decrypting.
There are other sync methods apart from Dropbox, but that's the commonest.

I am so glad you are thinking strongly about the security of your data - thats what we like to see!
As @danco says, a lot of us on the team here do use Dropbox for our data, in particular sharing vaults among our team. We are very confident about storing 1Password data in the cloud, as your data file is encrypted with an exceedingly secure encryption algorithm called AES. Even if someone were to acquire a copy of your 1Password data file, it would be extremely difficult (approaching impossible in a human lifetime) for them to actually gain access to your passwords without your Master Password.
