1Password for Mac vs iPhone
Hi,
I have 1Password manager both on my Mac (Google Chrome extension) and iPhone. However, they differ in version, because I can only run Lion on my mac (software updates run very slow). To be specific, I have 1Password version 3.9.21.90 on my Mac and the newest version on my iPhone.
Due to this difference, I notice that my saved passwords are not synchronized. Now I got 2 different password lists. Is that correct? And is there a solution?
Thank you in advance.
Best,
Mike

Hi @Mike Werner ,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble keeping 1Password synced up. Now 1Password 3 for Mac should sync just fine with 1Password 5 for iOS using Dropbox. I've got a few basic things that we want to check regarding Dropbox first, before we get into the serious troubleshooting:
- Please ensure that Dropbox is installed and running on your computer
- Check that you are logged in with the same account on all computers and devices
- Confirm that your datafile is stored in Dropbox in 1Password > Preferences > General on your Mac
- Confirm that Dropbox is selected in Settings > Sync on your iOS device
If all of those items check out, let's run a test and see where things are getting tripped up:
- Create a test entry on your Mac ("Test, Mac") and add some data
- Create a test entry on each of your iOS devices ("Test, iPhone/iPad") and add some data
- Does "Test for Mac" show up on either of your iOS devices?
- Does "Test for iPhone" and/or "Test for iPad" show up on your Mac?
- Log in to the Dropbox website and click on the 1Password.html file inside your 1Password.agilekeychain folder
- Enter your Master Password
- Do either or any of your test entries show up in your database here?
Please let me know the results of this little experiment - once we have a better idea of where things are going sideways, we should be able to get this straightened out simply for you :)

Megan...
I had a weird sync issue pretty much like this when I first configured 1Password (iMac, MacBook and iPod). According to the on-screen responses, the sync was functioning. However, the unit would somehow sync to the previous configuration. My Master Password and several of my site passwords were the previous choices that I had made. On a hunch (couldn't think of anything else), I turned the sync off and back on on the receiving units (MacBook and iPod). That fixed the problem and, since a week ago, it has not returned.
This happened beginning with the INITIAL configuration of the MacBook and the iPod. I set up the iMac first and when satisfied, I simply did a sync at the MacBook and the iPod. If the sync didn't work at all, the devices would have nothing. The only way that this could occur is because, for some weird reason, iCloud maintains more than one configuration version.
I have iPassword 5.02, Yosemite 10.10.1 and IOS 8.1.1.

In this instance we have to be careful. 1Password 3 operates quite differently from 1Password 4/5 in terms of synchronisation. The agilekeychain format hasn't changed but with 1Password 4/5 both use a local database to store the vault and the sync repository is a second copy of the keychain. With 1Password 3 the keychain in Dropbox (if it has been set up to sync) is the only copy of the vault. As a result there isn't the option to turn synchronisation off and on again like 1Password 4/5.
So @Mike Werner, if you can reply to Megan's post we'll take it slowly from there, the key part is to ensure we don't do anything to risk your vault.
