I purchased 1Password through the APP Store. Wanted to see what the upgrade price is for 1Password 5 it ask for the license #. Don't know what the license # is and when I type in my email address to have the license # sent it can find it. Th only reason I was interested is I purchased the 1Password Pro upgrade for my iPad so I could have different Vaults, but then discovered to create more than 1 vault I have to use version 4 on my MAC. Seems a little deceptive that it wasn't made clear that this option would require me to buy a newer version of 1Password.

    Hi @SnoValley2010‌

Vaults are still a relatively new feature and we're working hard to bring all the various platforms into sync regarding features.

    Just to clarify.

    • You're currently running 1Password 5 for iOS on your iPad and you've purchased the additional features.
    • You're not currently running any licensed copy of 1Password for Mac?

All of our licences are per platform, so a licence for say iOS does not extend to Windows or OS X (and vice versa). That's where you've run into the roadblock I think.

If you don't really wish to use 1Password on your Mac though you won't have to purchase it for the single action of creating a new vault. However you many find it useful being able to synchronise your data between the two.

If you genuinely don't want to run 1Password for Mac then here is the set of simple steps to create a secondary vault for your iOS version.

    1. Download 1Password from our site at https://agilebits.com/downloads picking the version applicable for your Mac (1Password 5 is Yosemite only, other versions are available in the Legacy section at the bottom but secondary vaults does require 1Password 4 or greater). There is a 30 day trial, more than long enough for creating a secondary vault.
    2. Create a primary vault with whatever password you wish, it doesn't matter if you don't intend to continue using it.
    3. Create a secondary vault with a secure password as this is the vault you want to keep, it's the 1Password > New Vault... option.
    4. At this point a guide we have for Sharing a vault will be more instructive and includes images to assist in the process. You want to follow them until you get to the Accessing a shared vault section.
    5. At that point you will want to ignore that section as it doesn't mention iOS and instead read this guide that refers to 1Password 5.
    6. With the vault synced you can quit 1Password for Mac using ⌃⌘Q to quit both 1Password and 1Password mini and then drag the application to your Trash.

If you have any questions please post back here.

If you were to decide that you'd like actually own and have the two copies sync then we'd handle step 2 of above very differently so please do say. I hope that helps.
