Logging onto Laptop

I currently have a 4 digit password that Imust enter to get into my laptop whenever It sleeps, restarts , is idle for 5 minutes etc. can turn that on or off in Apple preferences. My question is whether you can have the 1password master code replace that function and pop up whenever you log onto your computer which would then allow you in to computer and access to your logins, website etc?

    Hi @Matlas‌

I'm a little confused as to your request. Are you saying you've purposely set your user account password as a four digit pin on your MacBook?

Certainly we wouldn't be able to replace that login request from the operating system. If we could then anything could which is why the operating system protects such logins as fiercely as they can, it's why Windows NT used Ctrl-Alt-Delete (only the OS can trap it, a user program can't). That's probably a very simplified explanation but my uni course on operating systems was more than a couple of years ago now.

If I'm understanding your request correctly I wonder why not to just strengthen your existing password? If I'm misunderstanding please do correct me

I have as Macbook air. There is an optional Macbook user login anytime the computer starts up, after sleep or screen saver is on. I just was wondering if the 1password could fill that role as well.

    Hi @Matlas‌,

1Password for Mac cannot fill into third party applications at the moment. It can only fill into web browsers that have the Browser Extension installed.

When you MacBook is locked you cannot have access to 1Password, therefore it is recommended that you use a memorable password for your computer.

    Hope that this helps.

    Cheers!
