Dear Agilebits,

The 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper is too big. 16 GB. Can you please make it smaller?

I use Google 2 step verification. I store the backup code in attachment. I unlock the wordpad. Once I use one code, I will delete one code. I press save. When I open the attachment again, the change is not saved. Could you please fix it?

Thank you very much.

Tai

    Hi @Tai Ding

Could you please let me know where you are seeing this file size? That's certainly larger than it should be. I'd also love to know if this is real memory, or virtual. If you're seeing this number listed as 'Virtual Memory Usage', I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Here's a screenshot of 1Password mini in the Activity Monitor:

I'm not quite sure I understand your workflow here. If you edit an attachment, you will need to save that change to disk, and then re-attach the revised attachment. You cannot save changes made to an attachment directly to 1Password.

For codes such as this, I would recommend using a custom section or field within your existing entry instead of an attachment.

I hope this helps, but we're here if you have any further questions or concerns. :)

    @Megan‌

The OP was referring to disk storage but your response involved memory.

    Note to @Tai Ding
My image shows two folders. I have the MAS version. I do not know if the web download version also uses two folders.

The typical 1Password database file is within tens of megabytes and add about 30 copies of the said file for backups, it would be less than 100mb for most folks.

Are you storing a lot of big files inside 1Password?

I use Google 2 step verification. I store the backup code in attachment. I unlock the wordpad. Once I use one code, I will delete one code. I press save. When I open the attachment again, the change is not saved. Could you please fix it?

1Password is not a storage provider for your documents, it is not meant to be used as a file system where you can store files and change it on the fly. It can only save encrypted static attachments for your items but that's it. You cannot edit such files, you can only add a new one and delete the old one.

What's going on is that 1Password stores an encrypted copy of your file inside your data file and when you open the file, 1Password exports a decrypted copy of your encrypted file into a temporary cache that is cleared the moment you lock 1Password.

Whatever changes you make are only affecting the temp decrypted copy, it does not affect the encrypted file in your data file.

To do what you need, you have to save the attachment to your drive, make the changes, save it, and then add it as a separate attachment to the same 1Password item before deleting the older attachment.

Understood. Thank you all for your time.

    1. Drag file out and in is too complicated and not secure. Whole idea of 1Password is about security and ease of use. In previous 1Password 3, I was able to change content of wordpad without drag file out and in. This is an enhancement request. Could you please add back that function? Also could you please enable iPhone & iPad to change content of wordpad and sync them?

    2. This is a buy report. When I search for passwords, I cannot use touchpad to scroll up or down the search result. I tried on 3 of my Macs. None of them works.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,

    Tai

    Hi @Tai Ding‌,

Thanks for the follow up

As @MikeT‌ mentioned in his reply attachments aren't meant to be edited. Have you considered giving Knox a try?

1Password 4 was written from scratch. Bringing back such a feature may conflict with the entire design of 1Password 4 and 5. Again 1Password is not meant to be used as a storage provider for your documents.

We are well aware of it. It is only happening on Macs using OS X 10.10.2. Is that the case for all your 3 Macs or are you experiencing this issue under OS X 10.10.1?

    Thanks so much!

    Cheers!
