Why is Mac app more expensive than the iOS?
I got an unpleasant surprise when I bought 1PASSWORD for iOS and Mac version expired
that the price is incredibly much higher for the Mac version.
I would not have bought the app if I was better informed about costs, and since
I bought the app explicitly in order to sync up my passwords, I never expected to have to pay separately.
Then again, there is no explanation as to why one platform should be priced differently than another.

who has ever received a coupon for a price reduction?

I should imagine one answer to your first question is that the Mac version is much more versatile than the iOS version—which you might compare as the Mac version's little cousin. :)
There are reasonably frequent sales...you just have to keep an eye open for them. You can download a trial version from the AgileBits website which will function fully for 30 days (and even after that won't hold your passwords to ransom: you'll still be able to use it). Note that the AgileBits store version, unlike the Mac App Store version, doesn't support sync with iOS devices using iCloud.
